About CGA

 

HISTORY

In 1995, the Collaborative Group of the Americas on Inherited Colorectal Cancer (CGA-ICC) was established to improve understanding of the basic science of inherited colorectal cancer and the clinical management of affected families. The CGA focuses on families with rare forms of inherited colorectal cancer:

  • Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP)

  • Peutz-Jeghers syndrome

  • Juvenile Polyposis/Hamartomatous Polyposes

  • Hereditary Non-Polyposis Colorectal Cancer (HNPCC)

  • Lynch syndrome

  • Hyperplastic Polyposis/Serrated Polyposis

    MISSION STATEMENT

    The mission of the CGA is to offer:

  • Education regarding the clinical management and molecular genetics of inherited colorectal cancer to physicians, allied health-care professionals, patients, and their families

  • Access to clinical and chemoprevention trials

  • Resources for developing new hereditary registries and supporting their registries

  • A forum for collaborative research

  •  

    REGISTERS/REGISTRIES

    Registers affiliated with CGA can help to:

  • Identify individuals and families with an inherited cancer susceptibility or predisposition.

  • Provide clinical care and expert recommendations

  • Coordinate genetic counseling and testing

  • Locate resources and provide support to patients and their families
